Summer Program

Two Live Theatrical Plays, a Musical, Vaudeville, Improv, Thespian Led Tours, & Drama Camps all at the Empress during Centennial Summer 2012! It's the theatre's 100th birthday!

Hello & Welcome!

Live theatre at the Empress is back for our centennial year as we pump out more exciting summer entertainment than ever with three dynamic theatre productions for everyone, drama camps for children and teens, guided tours, Vaudeville! talent nights, improvised comedy shows and more!

We are particularily excited to present The Stage That Made Us by Ron Chambers. This special production has been commissioned to celebrate the centennial year and brings us back 100 years when our theatre doors first opened. Spanning the history of the Empress Theatre and telling the could-be romantic tale of two star-crossed patrons of the past. You will laugh, you will cry, as this spellbinding story unfolds on the Empress Stage.

Flash Forward to 1977 with The Boys Own Jedi Handbook by Stephen Massicotte.  When Star Wars first hit the silver screen it brought with it a phenomenon that continues to astound us even today.  This charming comedy shows how the iconic sci-fi film sparked the imagination and friendship of two young boys.

Our third production, That Men May Fly by Winn Bray, takes us back to 1943.  This play is based on the Fort Macleod Air Training Facility that existed during WWII. Set against the tunes of the era, this musical comedy tells a charming account of two flyboys and a women aero-engineer who endlessly grinds the gears so that the “Men May Fly.”

Be sure to take in a themed VAUDEVILLE! variety show, a guided tour, enroll in one of our summer drama camps, and, if you’re craving a new Empress experience, check out our Improv comedy shows.
See you at the theatre,

Andy Jenkins
