Contribute to a Minute of Music

We are proud to call you a friend

and to have your continuing support.

During the past year, we have been able to bring a variety of entertainers to our Centre Stage Series who left us with memories of the clear sweet voice of Emily Smith, the deep rich sounds of Chic Gamine, Marc Cohen's music, especially his Walking in Memphis, and Tom Jackson's holiday music and his care for others. We are richer to have been a part of the evenings we spent at the Empress with each of these and other artists who shared themselves with us.

The International Music Festival brought artists from various parts of the world to be heard from our stage. We heard world class music May 25-30, 2011 on our own Empress stage, at the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, at the Galt Museum in Lethbridge, and at the Grand Theatre in Calgary. During Remembrance Day celebrations we held the first Annual Aviation Film Festival to rave reviews. The veterans and their families were honoured by the event that especially recognized the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. We partnered with the Bomber Command Museum of Canada from Nanton and with the Royal Canadian Legion—Local Branch #46. People still talk about the involvement of Kevin Newman as moderator, Dennis James as pianist for the silent film, Wings, actor Eric Peterson and guest historian Stephane Guevremont who gave life to the past.

Donations have helped youth share history through live theatre during the summer. Year-round drama and music programmes gave students an opportunity to meet visiting artists from the Centre Stage Series, to be a part of invigorating workshops and to be inspired by the stories of aspiring young musicians. A family oriented concert introduced parents and children to the rich world of classical music.

Consider donating $125 for one of the stellar shows at the Centre Stage Series. Or $250 for two minutes, or $500 for four minutes!   Your tax-deductible gift will have a significant and measurable impact on the types of programmes we present for your enjoyment. Your gift is a fitting start to our upcoming 2012 Centennial Celebrations. Thank you very much for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,

Empress Theatre Society Board
