Ryland Moranz Grew up in Fort Macleod and as a result spent some of his most formidable years in the walls of the Empress Theatre. Running around the green room as a six year old dressed as Batman or falling asleep under the table dressed as Zorro at the season closing parties became a regular habit in the Great West Summer Theatre days. It was these experiences coupled with Rylands parents, who are musicians themselves as well as co-founders of the South Country Fair folk music festival that provided him with the love and support to nurture his zeal for super hero dress-up into a full out appreciation for art and music. Ryland is a musician writing and performing as a solo artist as well as one third of the power trio Sophmore Jakes. He is glad to be back at the Empress as the Technical director and looks forward to dressing like Batman for another season.
