Anton Kuerti

Anton Kuerti, born in Austria and has called Canada home since 1965, first appeared as a soloist at the tender age of eight performing Mozart K. 488 in Melrose, Massachusetts and at age 11 performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Boston Pops Orchestra.  He has since lead a stunning career touring 40 countries including Europe, Japan, Australia, China and theanton-kuerti-pic-fmif-2011 Soviet Union.  He has performed with most major U.S. orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, the N.Y. Philharmonic,  and the National Symphony to name a few.

Anton Kuerti has performed with every Canadian professional orchestra and has made two European tours with the National Arts Centre Orchestra.

He is one of today's most recorded artists and his work includes all the Beethoven concertos and sonatas, Brahms concertos, the Schubert sonatas and many other works by other composers.

In 1998, he became and Officer of the Order of Canada and has received honourary PhDs from Laurentian University, York University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music to name just a few. Anton is heavily recognized for his volunteer work and as a music instructor.

Anton Kuerti will perform during the Fort Macleod International Festival from May 25 - 30, 2011.  Performances will be held at the Galt Museum, Lethbridge, the Grand Theatre, Calgary, the Empress Theatre, Fort Macleod and Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo-Jump, Fort Macleod.
